Delete your account

You can delete your OZVAK account and your data yourself, at any time, without asking us and without giving a reason. There is no waiting period, no retention offer and no maze. This page is the complete description of what happens, including the one thing we keep and why.

Two routes. Use the first if you can.

1. In the app, which is immediate

Open OZVAK, go to Settings, and choose to delete your account. You confirm once, and the deletion runs there and then, in a single request. Nothing is queued for a human and nothing waits on us. When it finishes you are signed out and the account no longer exists.

2. By email, if you cannot open the app

If you have uninstalled OZVAK, lost the device, or can no longer receive sign-in codes at your address, email delete@[LEGAL DOMAIN] and ask us to delete your account.

• Send it from the email address you signed in with, if you still can. That is what lets us match the request to an account at all, because no product table of ours stores your address.
• If you cannot send from that address, tell us the address you used. We will ask you for something that shows you control it before we delete anything. We would rather make you prove it than let someone else delete your account by knowing your email address.
• You do not have to explain why, and we will not ask.

Turnaround: [DELETION REQUEST TURNAROUND, e.g. within 7 days]. We run exactly the same deletion described below, and we write back to confirm it is done.

What is deleted

Everything in this list is erased from our database and our storage. Not hidden, not flagged, not archived for later.

• Your login. The account itself and the email address held in our authentication system. After this there is nothing to sign in to.
• Your profile. Your alias, your tags, your city, your boundaries and everything else you wrote into it.
• Your intents and your introductions. Including every note you typed, sent or received.
• Your conversations and every message in them. Both sides of the thread, not only your half.
• Your photos. Every file you uploaded is removed from our private storage bucket, blurred thumbnail and full-resolution version alike.
• Your compatibility answers, your likes, your blocks and your paid entitlement.
• Reports. Reports you filed and reports filed about you are erased with the account. Being plain about the consequence rather than quietly relying on it: this is why the single item in the next section is kept separately. Without it, deleting an account would be a way to erase the record of harming somebody.
• The link between your sign-in address and your account. We store a one-way keyed value derived from your address so that one credential maps to one account. That record is erased with the account, and unless you have been banned you are free to sign up again with the same address later.
• The encryption keys on your device. The app destroys the private key held in your device's secure store. Your messages were encrypted so that only the two devices in a conversation could read them, so once that key is gone any copy of that text that still exists anywhere can never be read again, including by us. We never held the key.

What is kept, and why

A ban, if you have one. This is deliberate.

If your account was banned, the ban record survives your deletion. It holds the one-way value derived from your sign-in address, and it no longer points at any account, because the account is gone. Nothing else about you is attached to it.

This is on purpose and we will not hide it. Someone removed for harming another member must not be able to come back by deleting themselves and signing up again with the same address. A deletion that lifted a ban would make the ban worthless, and it would make this page a tool for the person the ban protects somebody from.

If you have not been banned, this does not apply to you. Nothing is kept under this heading, and the value derived from your address is released when you delete.

Payment records, which we are not free to erase

Our record that a payment happened survives, because a payment ledger you can delete is not a ledger, and tax and accounting law does not let us discard one on request. These rows hold the provider, the event, the amount-bearing event type, the timestamp and the internal account id the payment was made under. They hold no card, bank or UPI details, because we never receive those. Your payment provider, whether that is Google Play or Razorpay, keeps its own record under its own terms and its own retention period, which we do not control.

Safety and trust records, de-linked

Where a safety or trust record existed about the account, the row survives with the link to you removed, so it counts as a past event and no longer identifies anybody. If a report about you had already been escalated for a human to look at, that queued item is kept in the same de-linked form.

Diagnostics already sent, and the website waitlist

• Crash and performance reports already delivered to our error monitoring provider are held on that provider's own retention schedule and are not reached by the deletion above. They are diagnostic records of a crash, not your profile or your messages. Ask us at privacy@[LEGAL DOMAIN] and we will have them removed too.
• The waitlist on this website is a separate thing. If you joined it, that entry has no connection to an app account and deleting your account does not remove it. Email delete@[LEGAL DOMAIN] and say you want the waitlist entry gone as well, and it will be.
• Where the law requires us to keep a limited record, for example to answer a lawful order, we keep only that and only for as long as it is required.

How long it takes

• In the app: immediately. The deletion completes inside the single request you triggered. There is no grace period during which your account could be restored, which also means it cannot be undone. Nothing is soft-deleted and nothing is recoverable afterwards.
• By email: [DELETION REQUEST TURNAROUND, e.g. within 7 days], from the point where we can confirm the address is yours.
• Backups. Our database provider keeps routine encrypted backups so the service can be recovered from a failure. A deleted row can persist in a backup until that backup ages out on its ordinary cycle. We do not read backups to look anything up, and a restore would be an emergency, not a route back to a deleted account.

Deleting less than everything

If you do not want to lose the account, you have narrower options and they do not require this page. You can edit or clear your profile in the app, withdraw an intent, remove a photo, or block someone, all without deleting anything else. Deleting your account is the largest of these, not the only one.

Your other rights

You can also ask us what we hold about your account, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to an optional feature, at privacy@[LEGAL DOMAIN]. Your data is processed in ap-south-1 (Mumbai, India), and our error monitoring data is processed in the United States. The full picture is in our Privacy Policy.
